The idea for Epilogue was dreamed up one night around November of 1998. We spent a good part of the night throwing around ideas for a fantasy/sci-fi web site. After a bit of web surfing and research, we found plenty of SF/F web sites, even some that were already well established with many artists and visitors. It was apparent that there was a lack of quality in these sites content. Our goal was then decided... to build a high-quality sf/f web site offering high-quality content. We weren't quite sure how we were going to accomplish this, but we were determined.

We had the idea, now we needed a suitable name. This turned out to be harder than we imagined. We actually spent several weeks poring over lists of names. We still get a good laugh at some of the names we came up with! The name 'Epilogue' came to us one night as we sat around brainstorming. It just seemed right.

On December 9, 1998, we registered the domain name Epilogue.net. Since then, Epilogue has gone through several revisions, each stronger and more functional than the previous. Throughout the changes our goal has always remained the same. From day one, Epilogue has been built with the concept "quality, not quantity" in mind at all times. This concept led to our slogan: "Fantasy and Sci-fi at their best".

Early on, we hit various technical roadblocks that hindered our development (no web server, lack of a reliable host, etc.). After losing our original host in mid-1999, we were uncertain about Epilogue's future. Our development on the site was at a standstill. Through one of our friends we found a new host. We are extremely fortunate to be hosted (at no charge!) by John Simpson, the greatest web server administrator ever! John has provided us with access to all of the resources we have needed in developing Epilogue. Thanks John!

In July of 2000 we 'officially' launched the site you are now experiencing. We continue to gain in popularity and our community of talented artists is growing larger every day. As the other sections of the site come into production, the community will only continue to grow. The great feedback and praise from our Members and visitors has kept us excited about continuing to develop this project.

We still have many exciting things planned for Epilogue and we look forward to growing as a community!
